This is documentation of the process and design of exhibition graphics for an exhibition at the Buffalo AKG Art Museum curated by Cathleen Chaffee titled, "Stanley Whitney: How High the Moon".
A retrospective, this show presented works that spanned over Stanley Whitney's entire career. The graphic identity for the show was derived from the design for the exhibition catalogue, and applied to a title wall, wall texts, and merchandise.
The title wall included two floor-to-ceiling photos of Whitney, one from early in his career in the 1970's, and the other from 2023. We wanted the title wall to feel like a monument of Whitney and the vast body of work he has created.
In the gallery, a temporary wall was built in front of the main window which faces the space outside the museum and is framed by the glass walls of the main building.
Photos were provided by Jeff Maciejewski of the Buffalo AKG Art Museum.
